The U.S. Geologic Survey published a set of regional flood frequency equations for the South Lahontan-Colorado Desert region (SL-CD) based on gaging data for the region up to 1973. Multech conducted a study to review those regional flood frequency equations. The results showed that the published equations and the associated standard errors of estimate could not be reproduced using the flood data included in their report. In addition, there appears to exist a geographical trend in flood magnitudes, which was not accounted for in the USGS regional equations. Because of the above inconsistency and apparent short coming, Multech was commissioned to develop a new set of regional equations for the 2-, 5-, 10-, 25-, 50-, and 100-year floods for the Antelope Valley Subregion for establishing flood hydrology for site developments in the Rosamond area, Kern County, California.
